AU, Institut for Biomedicin – Skou Bygningen

CUBO Architects. Randi has supplied panic fittings and door handle No. 1060 with accessories, designed by C.F. Møller Architects.

The main handle’s variation on the known theme of the canonized university building creates a new grandeur and heaviness in the park’s southern neighborhood – a disposition that is naturally inscribed in the university’s building hierarchy. Skou The building’s two high staggered building lengths adapt to the surroundings with the characteristic yellow bricks and saddle roofs, but at the same time add new enriching elements. The perforated brick gables are clearly new, but at the same time refer to the university’s gables towards Ringgaden.
Oriented to the north, facing the forecourt, the new building’s distinctive gable section invites to the main entrance, which is led into the gable’s large open undercut. Two staggered overlapping lengths create a large central utility room, while the building width accommodates the research units’ offices and laboratory functions in the lengths.
The AU Health project also includes renovation of the Bartholin Complex and parts of Anatomy. Among other things the existing Bartholin Building will have a significantly altered facade with a glass section facing the park.
